Left to Your Own Devices

You don’t need a lot of doodads and thingamabobs to make great food. Heck, I went through a tiny-apartment phase where I survived with just one pot, one pan, and one slotted spoon—and I turned out some top-notch dinners. But just because I once got along with gear so primitive a caveman would recognize it doesn’t mean I avoid upgrades. Today, I happily own a full collection of kitchen tools—and I rely on technology. I often read recipes from a laptop or tablet, use smartphone apps to organize grocery lists, and watch culinary demos online. As with so many websites, apps, and tech toys out there, the biggest challenge isn’t figuring out what you need, but deciding which versions work best. With that in mind, here are 10 tools no home cook or cheese lover should be without.

  1.  Belkin’s Chef Stand + Stylus
  2. Chef Sleeve Disposable iPad Sleeves
  3. Kitchen Calculator Pro App
  4. Perfect Produce App
  5. Culture‘s Mobile-Friendly Cheese Library
  6. OurGroceries App
  7. Grocery IQ App
  8. Range SmartPhone Compatible Thermometer
  9. iGrill Mini Bluetooth Thermometer
  10. Dear Martini Vimeo Cooking Videos
