Grilled Cheese Photo Contest Winner!

And the winner is...

Evan Kendall, of Carlisle PA!

It was a tough call, and judges were divided on the sandwich itself. While I waxed nostalgic for the Frankenfood of my own college days, at least one of our panel felt the soup/sandwich/condiment combo was "kinda gross."

Despite this, the general consensus was that Evan showed clear enthusiasm for the great American grilly (as befits a self-described beer & cheese geek), and significant ingenuity in raising the culinary level at the Dickinson College cafeteria. It was this bold and hearty spirit, as well as his bearded punim, which finally won our hearts.

Plus, of all the entries, he was the one most clearly in need of help.

I take the grilled cheese on our near weekly "grilled cheese day" at my school's cafeteria and ladle out some cream of tomato soup on top of it. Sometimes sliced onion is put between the two. Then I put "Parmesan," Italian seasoning, garlic salt, hot pepper flakes and a pepper blend on top. It's off the hook, as far as "Caf Creations" go.

I then eat it with a spoon. This is a tasty and handy way to eat GC, and cleaner to prevent soup and runny cheese from getting in my beard.

We therefore present to him his prize from Boska USA:

A Boska partyclette, cheese curler, and Romano cheese grater, in hopes that he will continue to aim high. Who knows, maybe next year, a hot plate?

As for our runners-up? Well, we thought everybody did pretty great. From Susan's grilled-cheese donut to Michaela's drunken grilly bash, from the innocent glee of Liam's lunch and Maria's first sandwich to the ultra-luxe creations of Tim, Abigail, Daniel and Danielle, we couldn't choose. So everyone who entered the contest gets a pack of Boska's tostabags. Thanks, guys—you were awesome!
