A Cheesy Waffle Recipe Gathering

How do you like your waffles? Doused in powdered sugar? Topped with sliced strawberries and bananas? A dollop of whipped cream? Soaked in maple syrup? Or, are you part of the minority crowd—you and your fellow savory waffle lovers? Well, we’ve gathered some of our favorite and best recipes for cheese-focused waffles. You’ll want to make these this weekend (and the next, and the one after that). You know us, we condone putting cheese on anything. And, for that matter, using a waffle iron for all sorts of fried cheese magic.

These waffles from awesome blog Joy the Baker (that’s them in our featured photo!) are the perfect food to make with all those leftover mashed potatoes (I know, those few instances there are any leftovers). They’re sturdy enough to hold up as sandwich bread and are topped in our favorite ingredient: cheese!

Macaroni and Cheese Waffles

More like deep-fried macaroni-and-cheese nuggets that are cooked in a waffle iron (even though they’re not deep-fried!), these waffles from Serious Eats are crispy, crunchy, creamy, and so easy to make.

Ham and Cheese Waffles

This recipe by the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen uses strips of thinly cut ham, but it’d be great to use up some of that leftover Easter ham.

As neat food blog Kim’s Cravings notes, this “sweet waffle batter with savory bacon and cheese is truly a match made in breakfast heaven!”
