Cakebuilder Lets Cheese Lovers Get Creative

A few weeks ago in a post on Alternative Cheese Cakes, we covered the growing trend of ditching sweet for savory and ordering a wedding cake made up entirely out of cheese. There are many companies today offering to put together cheese wedding cakes, including The Cheese Shed, an artisan cheese seller in the UK. On their website, they sell many predesigned cheesecakes, but they have also just released a nifty new tool to help their customers design their own perfect cheese arrangement. Introducing: The Cakebuilder.

The Cakebuilder, the world’s first online cheese builder, lets you customize and visualize your own cheese cake by letting you pick which cheeses you want and in what order. There over 40 different kinds of cheeses to choose from, and you can even order samples of the cheeses you choose. It will even let you know how many people the cake will feed.

This is a great way to figure out what kind of cheeses you want to have in your cake and how all it’s going to look when put together. Though, you might want to be cautious of where you stack your softer cheeses – no one wants flattened Brie.

Even if you don’t have a wedding or event to plan, Cheesebuilder is fun to play around with, and the ability to stack up to 15 layers lets you you come up with some pretty wild cakes.

This monster cake we created could feed 365 people. Or just one very committed cheese lover.
