Cheese Truck Fire Shuts Down Vt. Highway

Last Friday in Richmond, Vermont, melting, bubbly cheese was not a good thing for the first time ever. A tractor trailer carrying 34,000 pounds of Cabot cheese products caught fire at about 9:30 a.m., presumably due to a mechanical failure of the trailer brakes. The flames spread fast, a shocking sight for those enduring the morning commute. A witness exclaimed to WCAX:

“I looked at the fire and was like mate that’s too gnarly, I’m like that thing could f—– explode.”

Well said. The cheese truck fire was not only a jolt for nearby viewers, but it also shut down the interstate for an hour, resulting in serious traffic jams. The tractor-trailer was reportedly heading from Cabot in Montpelier, Vermont, to Holland, Michigan to deliver the cheese. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the truck driver was taken to the hospital with only minor complications.
