The Santa Barbara Fermentation Festival is produced by Cultivate Events and showcases local and regional experts on the history, benefits and how-tos of fermented foods. This all-ages experiential one-day festival celebrates the art of making traditionally fermented foods and beverages such as kimchi, kombucha, kefir, pickles, beer, sauerkraut, wine, cider, cultured vegetables, and sourdough bread, and empowers attendees to make these foods at home.
The recent interest in and popularity of fermented foods coupled with the increase in digestive health issues has made our festival a not-to-be-missed event. We offer a diverse array of talks by fermentation experts, hands-on demonstrations, and the opportunity to taste dozens of artisan fermented foods.
The festival takes place at Fairview Gardens, an urban farm, and welcomes attendees to spend a day on the land learning about the importance of local, organic, and sustainable agriculture – especially to the fermentation process.
All profits from the festival directly benefit Fairview Gardens, which supports long-term sustainability in our community and the preservation of one of Santa Barbara County’s most treasured urban farms.
