Bio-Gas Operation a Win for Farmers and Environment
One of the biggest environmental challenges dairy farmers face is the management of livestock waste. The O’Neil Dairy Farm in Tecumseh, Canada has proposed a bold solution to combat this problem.
Jason O'Neil, along with John Millson, his uncle and president of Great Lakes Energy, have proposed building a biogas operation in order to divert a portion of its waste toward energy production. In this operation, manure would be combined with waste products from area food processing plants into an anaerobic digester under a dome. During decomposition, a gas is released that can be diverted for use as fuel for a generator.
