In 1979 Errico Auricchio moved with his family from Italy to America and started BelGioioso Cheese Inc. The company makes authentic Italian-style cheeses in Wisconsin. Their award-winning cheeses include American Grana, Mascarpone, and CreamyGorg among many others.
Holidays, especially the Christmas holidays, are important in Italian families. They are a time for family members to reunite, to catch up on the happenings in each other’s lives, to quarrel and make up, and to create new memories. Each Italian family has a traditional meal that is made year after year, usually by the matriarch of the family, with help from the children, who over time learn the recipes so they can make them for their own families.
This year, BelGioioso wanted to share some favorite traditional Italian dishes made with their award-winning artisan cheeses with the readers of culture. But they wanted to do more than that. They’ve invited bloggers to create new recipes that are a twist on the traditional five-course Italian meal. For each course, BelGioioso has provided a traditional recipe and a blogger has created a “Twist on Tradition” recipe, also using BelGioioso cheese. We’ll be presenting these recipes over the coming weeks. Here is a taste of what you can look forward to:
- Antipasto post by Cristina Conrad of Foodie with a Life
- Pasta post by Dakota Mackey of Butter & Bunny
- Main course post by Kat Neilson of Eat Your Tarte Out
- Salad post by Ann Baker of Dinner is Served
- Dessert post by Truc Luu of Treats SF
Each week that we post a recipe, we’ll be doing a giveaway of a box of delicious BelGioioso cheeses.
