Surprisingly Cheesy Desserts

If you asked the dictionary, it would tell you that a dessert is sweet. But if you asked us, we would tell you that desserts can definitely be savory… and cheesy! Here are some of the most original and deliciously cheese-filled versions of classically sweet treats.

This 100% Cheese Whoopie Pie consists of two mac n’ cheese “buns”, cooked with eggs to hold them together, and a filling of creamy Easy Cheese. This mouth-watering interpretation of the whoopie pie is aptly described by it’s creator as “just an overload of cheese.” It’s also surprisingly easy to make, though we might suggest a fresh ricotta or mascarpone as a substitute for canned cheese.

2. Cheese Cookies

Take a break from the sweet stuff and incorporate some cheese into your cookie dough. These savory treats are scrumptious and can be a perfect appetizer or after-dinner surprise. This recipe calls for cheddar, but feel free to experiment with another type of cheese. Blue cheese cookies, goat cheese cookies, Parmesan cookies? The possibilities are limitless and delicious.

3. Cheese Ice Cream

We expect ice cream to be sweet, but it doesn’t have to be! Cheese ice cream might sound strange, but it’s more common than you would think. It’s been around for over 250 years and it doesn’t have to be made with only the sweeter cheeses. Many saltier cheeses have been incorporated into this sweet snack like these Blue Cheese Banana and Rosemary Parmesan recipes.
