Ah, summer—that beautiful time of year when forlorn sun dresses are dug up from closet crannies, patio bars pop up on every street corner, music festivals blare jams like no other, and you go outside and make it light all day. Now, how about combining all of these things into a single, action-packed event? We are, of course, talking about the 8th Annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival this August 7–9. This fest has it all: one of the most idyllic venues of all time in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, food vendors from the best restaurants around the Bay, exceptional craft beer from up and down the Coast, world-class Californian wines by the glass, and all of the music. (C’mon—ELTON. JOHN.)
So how can you possibly improve this already fantastic assemblage of person, place, and thing? The answer is obvious: cheese!
It is our great pleasure to formally announce our candidacy (sorry, wrong speech) participation in this year’s Cheese Lands at Outside Lands! That’s right—an entire Land devoted to cheese. We’re partnering with awesome-possum winery Long Meadow Ranch to bring festival-goers a delectable baguette-et-beurre plate (that’s fancy talk for bread and butter); a salivatory charcuterie plate that’ll have you screaming umami before you even put it in your mouth; and four different kinds of cheese plates. Competitively priced and perfectly situated next door to Wine Lands, these assortments of dairy goodness will turn that exhausted-because-I’ve-been-dancing-for-three-days-straight frown upside down!
Jazzed about this as much as we are but bummed you can’t make it since it’s sold-out? (😢) We got a couple options for ya:
- Long Meadow Ranch is hosting a giveaway of TWO tickets to Outside Lands PLUS two tickets to see the Travelin’ McCourys as part of their summer concert series. Check out Instagram for details.
- Tune in every week until the grand finale of the event itself for a breakdown of each plate, so you can wait in hungry anticipation if you’re going or make it at home if you’re not.
- Read culture web guy Grant Bradley’s personal essay on working the booth last year entitled “Cheeses & Yeezus,” which, need we say more? Read it now!
In the meantime, behold: our official Cheese Lands menu!
