And the Acurdemy Award Goes to …

It’s that time of year again: Oscar season. The glitz, the glamour, the tears, the acceptance speeches. We wondered if any Academy Award darlings had a special affinity for or connection to cheese. Lucky for us, we found a few who do.

Emma Stone

We’re hard-pressed to find an actress who loves curds more than Best Actress nominee Emma Stone. (Has any other thespian ever proclaimed, “Grilled cheese makes me feel beautiful”?) At the SAG Awards last month, Stone’s brother, Spencer, gave us even more insight into her obsession:

Meryl Streep

While promoting Florence Foster Jenkins, Hugh Grant and Best Actress nominee Meryl Streep participated in Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything.” One redittor asked about their favorite cheeses. Streep revealed she’s partial to extra sharp cheddar. Meanwhile, Grant’s answer would have any artisan cheesemaker crying into their curds.

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame is nominated for Best Original Song for Moana‘s “How Far I’ll Go.” He moved to London in late 2016 to film Mary Poppins Returns, and he’s reportedly already explored the cheese scene there. His enthusiasm for wheels and wedges is also evident in his tweets.

Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is up for his seventh Oscar nomination this year for his role in Fences. We’re not sure if he’s a caseophile in real life, but he recently joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to dramatically read some greeting cards. He got a real kick out of this one about cheese:

Brie Larson

Traditionally, the Best Actor and Actress winners are announced by those who nabbed the honor the previous year. Brie Larson (who won for Room last year) and Leonardo DiCaprio (below) are confirmed to appear this year as presenters. Before her superstar days, Larson rocked cheese puns and answered fans’ inquiries about her cheesy name on Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything.”

Leonardo DiCaprio

After five previous nominations, DiCaprio finally struck Oscar gold last year. But long before his Academy Award-winning role as frontiersman Hugh Glass in The Revenant, he was just a son begging his on-screen mom for a sandwich made with Kraft Free Singles.
