How to Make the Perfect Grilled Cheese


A grilled cheese sandwich is one of the first meals most of us learn to make. Along with boiling water and scrambling eggs, it’s one of the few dishes that almost anyone can make, regardless of skill level or cooking prowess. But (sorry) you’re probably doing it wrong. Here are a few easy tricks to get the perfect melt every time, and perfect the simplest (and cheesiest) of meals.

A grilled cheese sandwich should never let you down. It should be crispy and toasted on the outside and gooey with cheese in the middle. It should hold together with integrity whether you’re nibbling at the corners or dunking it into tomato soup. If it doesn’t immediately make you relax a little farther in your chair, then it’s not doing its job.
