Survey Reveals UK’s Favorite Cheeses

keen's cheddar

Cheddar is the cheese of choice in the UK, according to a Daily Express article.

British pickle company Branston recently polled 2,000 Brits on their cheese-eating habits (likely in conjunction with its latest ad campaign, which focuses on pairing pickles and curds). Cheddar was the overwhelming favorite, while Red Leicester, brie, mozzarella, and parmesan rounded out the top five. Two other English classics, Stilton and Wensleydale, were sixth and eighth, respectively.

Other fun stats include:

  • 35 percent of those surveyed said they would eat a meal of cheese alone;
  • one in 10 admit to eating an entire block in one sitting;
  • and cheese on toast is the top cheesy snack in the UK.
