Initially funded by Kickstarter and newly available this spring is Range, a thermometer that not only measures temperature, but also gives alerts on your phone or tablet to let you know when food is close to done (for over-the-top cuteness, choose a sound effect like a crowing rooster as the alert for a roast chicken).
