Sacramento Cheese Week is Almost Here

Get these exclusive restaurant-cheese collabs during the American Cheese Society Annual Conference

Prelude Kitchen & Bar offers a modern American dining experience and is set to partner with Point Reyes. Photo courtesy of Prelude Kitchen & Bar.

Sacramento, California, is known as the City of Trees. But while the American Cheese Society’s in town, it’ll transform into the City of Cheese. Browse our guide to discover the exclusive restaurant-cheesemaker collabs taking place through the society’s City of Cheese Menu Pop-Up during its annual conference. These special artisan cheese dishes will only be available from July 23 to July 25—so make your reservations ASAP!

Prelude Kitchen & Bar | Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co.

Prelude’s modern American (and cheese-forward) menu seems like an excellent fit for the American cheese vanguards at Point Reyes. With mere sides such as lemon ricotta with black garlic crostini and house pita chips with cardamom yogurt already being offered by the restaurant, we predict that Bay Blue and Toma will be inventively used in entrées or appetizers.

Pazza Notte | BelGioioso Cheese

Wisconsin and California Italians are teaming up in Sacramento’s Midtown. Grab a table on Pazza Notte’s outdoor patio and enjoy an extensive food menu featuring cheesy hits such as Insalata Caesar with parmesan crisps, creamy Carciofi al Forno, and Pizza Quatro Formaggi with a thin Neapolitan crust.

The Rind | Beehive Cheese

The Rind excels at pairing cheese with wine and beer and has been doing so for more than a decade; furthermore, the restaurant specializes in comfort food made with artisan cheese. Perhaps there’s a Beehive grilled cheese in our future? We can only hope.

Mulvaney’s B&L | Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese

It’s all about seasonality at Mulvaney’s B&L, also located in Midtown. Pay a visit if you’re hoping to catch Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese accompanied by local produce like peak-summer tomatoes.

Brasserie du Monde | Laura Chenel & Marin French Cheese Co.

Feeling French? Stop by Brasserie du Monde, the only restaurant featuring two cheesemakers. Score all the French classics you can think of here, along with the obligatory cheese plate and charcuterie board. Brunch is available on the weekend, in case you’d like one final meal before boarding your flight home.

Aioli Bodega Española | Beecher’s Handmade Cheese

Find shareable tapas and paellas at this Spanish-inspired restaurant situated nearby California State Capitol Park, plus housemade sangria. We wonder: Will Beecher’s Sheep Sheep Truckle make an appearance? (After all, it pairs well with Spanish ham.)

Shipwrecked Paradise Island Tiki Bar | Cypress Grove

Shipwrecked offers fresh fish and tiki bar flair along with big, colorful, IG-worthy cocktails. It’s a slice of paradise made all the better by its collab with Cypress Grove. Don’t forget to order Shipwrecked’s signature tiki fries with white truffle aioli for the table, which includes lots and lots of lime zest.
