For London’s iconic Neal’s Yard Dairy cheese shop, the holiday season is a blur. In 2015 the company allowed culture inside its two locations at Borough Market and Covent Garden and into its cheese caves under the Druid Street railway arches to capture the flurry of activity on one of the busiest days of that year: December 21, the Monday before Christmas. To give you an idea of just how brisk business was, consider that Neal’s Yard Dairy sold just over 5,600 pounds of cheese that day, almost double the sales of a typical Monday (around 3,000 pounds on June 20, 2016, for reference). At the bustling Borough Market outpost alone, 42 mongers greeted the 2,000 customers who came through the door to make 1,157 purchases(!). Check out all the festive, frenetic action below.
