2014 James Beard Award Winners Announced


The James Beard Awards are some of the most coveted awards in the culinary industry, and name the best chefs in America, outstanding wine, beer, and spirits programs, and more. This year, women were solidly represented in the winners circle, including “best chef in New York” recipient April Bloomfield (above, with Questlove). Other big prizes went to the Slanted Door in San Francisco, which won outstanding restaurant, and Pêche Seafood Grill in New Orleans, which took home the prize for best new restaurant, a category that had been stacked with New York restaurants (BetonyEstela, and Carbone were all in the mix). The outstanding pastry chef award went to Monsieur Cronut, Dominique Ansel, who has perhaps had the most outstanding year of any pastry chef in the history of mankind.
