Cheesy Rainbow Recipes for Your Rainbow Doritos

A cheesy chip favorite got a pretty massive makeover this week. To show their support for the LGBT community, Doritos announced a limited supply of rainbow-colored Cool-Ranch chips this past Thursday, and they’ve already sold out. The bags were only available online, and you could get one shipped to you (with shipping cost covered by the brand) after donating $10 or more to It Gets Better, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT youth. Each bag included an inspirational quote, and Doritos spread their message with #BoldIsBetter.

“There really is nothing bolder than being true to yourself and living life to the fullest,” said Ram Krishnan, chief marketing officer of Frito-Lay, Doritos’ parent company. “With Doritos Rainbows chips, we’re bringing an entirely new product experience to our consumers to show our commitment toward equal rights for the LGBT community and celebrate humanity without exception.”

We’re glad to see so much support for the message behind these colorful chips, and couldn’t resist rounding
up some colorful dishes to go with them. If you didn’t manage to snag a bag before they went, these rainbow recipes can be enjoyed even with regular-colored chips.

(Bonus points if make a donation to an LGBT charity along with your rainbow creation!)

This cheesecake dip from dessert blog Crazy for Crust is more along the lines of a sugar cookie in terms of flavor, but if you’re an adventurous eater, rainbow chips in rainbow dip equals the ultimate double rainbow.

Okay, fine, it’s really rainbow bread, but chips and burgers is a much better combo than chips and bread, so feel free to put a burger and melted cheese between two slices of this bread and have a colorful, unconventional, and undeniably bold spread for your next Sunday night football viewing.

3. Rainbow Grilled Cheese

Believe it or not, you can taste the rainbow without artificial coloring. Who wudda thunk? Cooking blog Gimmes Some Oven, that’s who. Add a side of rainbow chips, and you’ve got a relatively healthy and all-around colorful meal.
