Favorite Cheeses of the Halloween Crew

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a spooooky cheese board? Feature cheeses from our top three favorite Halloween characters and eat like the ghouls and goblins eat.

Gouda for the Ghosts

Ghostly indeed, gouda is light enough to eat on the fly (literally). Ghosts have been known to leave a gouda trail of crumbs following them on their frightening journeys. With a mild flavor and a sweet finish, you too can enjoy this cheese—just don’t expect it to give you flying powers.

Frankenstein loves his Colby Jack

Franky doesn’t like when we refer to him as an “unorthodox scientific experiment” (he’s so touchy), but it does explain why he loves Colby Jack. This cheese is an unforeseen mixture of Colby and Monterey Jack, which turned out great! Just like how unintended science created the great (depending on who you ask) Frankenstein’s monster.

A Munster Mash for Mummy

What better cheese for a monster than munster? Smooth texture and an orange rind give make this cheese perfect for Halloween-loving mummies. Mummies have been seen wrapping slices of Munster up for later, so don’t be surprised if you see a mummy out trick-or-treating and they unravel some cheese!

If one of these characters doesn’t suit you, check out some ideas for truly cheesy Halloween costumes. And expand your cheese offerings with adorable Halloween cheese snacks like witches brooms and pumpkin cheese balls!

Marissa Donovan

Marissa Donovan is a former upstate New York girl living in a cheese-centric world. Although cheese is her day one, she doesn’t discriminate, as she adores all food. Similar to what Beyoncé advises, she likes food so much she put a degree on it—she’s a registered dietitian and master’s student in the nutrition communication program at Tufts. When she’s not filling her head with food info, she’s filling her belly with food and, as always, trying to bring up cheese in casual conversation.
