Oh, These Boozy, Cheesy Holiday Delights!

Two UK cheesemakers are taking your taste buds on a ride this Holiday season, with their “spiked” offerings. Last month, The Great British Cheese Company came out with their bright pink Wensleydale and Raspberry Prosecco, and a little later, the Cheshire Cheese Company introduced its gin and lemon flavored gourmet cheese. And believe you us, both the cheeses are already a ‘sold-out’ success—ahead of Christmas.

On its website, The Great British Cheese Company talks about the idea behind its Prosecco cheese, calling it a take on the Christmas classic Wensleydale and Cranberries. “Wensleydale has a supple and crumbly texture and a milky freshness, paired with fruit such as Cranberries, the acidity cuts through rich cheese resulting in a balanced flavor. Paring Prosecco and raspberry with Wensleydale produces similar savory, sweet and acidic flavor combinations,” says the maker about the special Holiday cheese which is now out of stock! The company also has a wine, and a whiskey-flavored cheese in its wide range of products.

While bubbly and cheese have been lovers for eternity, gin and cheese are a fairly new couple. And though some cheese orthodox may be skeptical or hesitant, Cheshire Cheese Company’s Gin and Lemon Chesire Cheese has already bagged a bronze medal at the 2017 International Cheese Awards.

“A masterful balance of Gin and Lemons with our award-winning Creamy Cheshire cheese results in a totally unique and incredibly tasty Cheese blend,” describes the maker about the cheese that too is sold out.

The company website, besides offering a discount on the cheese, which contains sweetened pieces of lemon along with gin, is promising to have it back in stock by the end of the week.

So, get your board and accompaniments ready, and don’t worry about the pairings, because your boozy cheeses are on the way. Happy Holidays indeed!
