5 Ways to Celebrate National Mac and Cheese Day

July 14 is National Mac and Cheese Day and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with a big bowl of hot and cheesy noodles! While it might be a little warm this time of year, nothing can stop us from indulging in our favorite cheesy comfort food.

Here are five of our favorite recipes for mac and cheese:

Maepole Mac and Cheese

Using cottage cheese makes this dish extra creamy, and using dry pasta saves a step. The extra moisture of a young cheddar will add to the creaminess of the sauce. Cavatappi pasta is a corkscrew shape and its grooved sides hold more of the cheese mixture, but if you can’t find cavatappi, feel free to use elbow pasta. For added luxury, top with buttered breadcrumbs before the second bake.

Baked Brie Mac and Cheese

This recipe transforms a popular party appetizer into a main dish. Caramelized onions provide sweetness, while fontina rounds out the cheesy flavor.

Mac and Cheese with Coppa and Chives

Creamy, Southern-style mac and cheese gets a boost from cured meat and camembert in this dish. Make sure to thoroughly cook the roux, stirring it for a few minutes—it will make a difference in the final flavor.

Herbed Muenster Mac and Cheese with Bacon

Feel free to swap out the sage and/or thyme for your favorite herbs—oregano and basil are good bets.

Pumpkin Chèvre Macaroni and Cheese

Creamy chèvre, slightly tangy goat milk cheddar, and pumpkin puree combine to form a luxurious cheese sauce that takes minutes to make.
