Let’s face it: you’re expected to have a beautiful brunch for Mother’s Day. If you’re facing difficulties this year deciding where you should go or what you should make, fret no longer! Invite Mom over and treat her to a special Mother’s Day meal, complete with a range of cheesy dishes. It’ll be the greatest gift you could give her…and prove that you know how to cook for yourself. If you have siblings, have them chip in for some of the ingredients so everyone walks away happy.
Smoothies make the perfect morning drink, and they’re great for brunch, because you can mix up a blender-full and serve it out to everyone. This recipe calls for strawberries, blueberries, and some goat cheese. The tanginess of the chèvre should go great with the fruit.
Bloody Marys are a classic brunch cocktail, and this spicy number is great if your mom doles out the Sriracha on the rest of her food anyway. It’ll be spicy but satisfying.
Let’s say Mom doesn’t like spice but would like some sort of cocktail to go with her brunch. You can make a twist on the traditional mimosa by mixing blueberry-pomegranate juice with your prosecco. (Bonus: combine with mold-ripened goat cheese as an appetizer!)
Scones make a great snack, and scones filled with cheddar and bacon make them a necessity for the ultimate brunch. Just make sure not to let anyone fill up before the main event.
Not a fan of bacon or want to offer a vegetarian option? Try your hand at making bagels instead of buying them from the place down the street. Stuffed and topped with Asiago cheese, there’s no way to go wrong.
Eggs are a brunch staple. Dress ’em up by filling your omelets with Comté and herbs. The recipe calls for two eggs but can easily be multiplied for a crowd.
You can also make a pan full of eggs, cheese, and veggies. This particular recipe uses smoked mozzarella to stir things up, but going traditional will do you just fine.
A puffle is a stuffed puff-pastry waffle that will show you’re up on new food trends. And that you appreciate dishes with cute names. This puffle includes dark chocolate, Parrano cheese, and maple syrup. Make it if Mom has a sweet tooth.
These mini-pancakes are a great addition to brunch as they won’t fill you up so much you can’t enjoy the rest of the food. Try them topped with goat cheese and raspberry preserves for a sweet addition to round out the meal.
I love this sandwich because it combines so much yet works so well. Filled with mustard, ham, cheese, and preserves, you already get a great combo of savory and sweet. Then the bread is cooked up like French toast and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The Monte Cristo touches on every category of your meal.
If it has a fried egg on it, it works for brunch. Not only do you have a delightfully runny yolk, but there are two different types of sheep cheese. Your guests won’t complain.
