Parmigiano Reggiano Popcorn

Parmigiano Reggiano Popcorn

Popcorn is a whole-grain, healthy, low-fat and low-calorie snack—that is, if you don’t add butter and lots of salt. Plain popcorn is a blank slate waiting to be written, and this simple recipe for parmesan popcorn is an excellent way to start.

  • 1/2 cup finely grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels

  • In a small bowl or empty spice shaker, combine the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, the garlic powder, and the cayenne. Pop popcorn in an air popper or large kettle. Pour the popcorn into a large bowl and shake half of the Parmigiano mixture over the top. Toss or stir and pour over remaining Parmigiano mixture. Serve hot.
